Question 1 Study this extract bearing on the Natural Environment of a Community and then answer questions (a) to (e) that follow. (The maximum marks for each sub-question is indicated in brackets

Human and natural activities are the principal causes of environmental degradation, Some natural factors of environmental degradation includes: Acid rain, volcanic cruptions, excess rain fall and floods. Etc On the other hand, we also have human factors such as pollution, the use of fossil fuels, deforestation and rapid urbanisation. These natural and human factors have produced detrimental effects on the environment in recent times. This situation has brought in health difficulties, extreme weather conditions and loss of biodiversity. It is very certain and a regular phenomenon that human beings and nature all contribute to the negative and positive developments that take place in the environment today. Conservation practices have been put in place to improve on the damaging effects of our environment. The Government of Cameroon does so through the Ministry of Environment and Nature Protection. Some International Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations also have been making efforts in regulating and prohibiting certain practices by man and nature. This will eventually render our environment a better place for human existence and build a save and decent society for all
